For Your Information
Road Plowing and Treatment: Public Works crews are treating bridges, overpasses, and Emergency Routes and will continue to do so throughout the weather event. They will be treating with salt until at least two inches of snow accumulates on the streets, at which point they’ll begin plowing. Crews will not treat or plow neighborhood roads due to limited resources and space. If you see a snow plow on the street, give it plenty of space.
Drive with Caution: Be extremely cautious on the roads tonight and tomorrow morning as they’re likely to be slick. Go slow and leave extra space between you and the car in front of you. If you encounter a plow on your commute, give them plenty of space and avoid passing them.
Tolls: For the safety of toll facility employees, tolls will be suspended on the Chesapeake Expressway from 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, to 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21. Tolls at the Dominion Blvd Veterans Bridge will NOT be suspended at this time.
Trash and Recycling: Trash and recycling collection crews will start collecting later in the day on Friday, Feb. 21, meaning collection will likely continue into Saturday. Please leave your cans out until they are collected.
- All City Offices, Courts, Community Centers, and Libraries will open at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21.
Chesapeake General District Court will be closed Friday, Feb. 21.
Chesapeake Public Schools will be closed for ALL STUDENTS Friday, Feb. 21; administrators and twelve-month employees should report on a TWO-HOUR delay. The school district will operate on a CODE YELLOW on Friday, Feb. 21.
