For Your Information
VOTER NOTICE: Did you receive an absentee ballot application from the Center for Voter Information? Please note that this is an independent third-party group who is NOT affiliated with the Chesapeake Voter Registrar’s Office or the Virginia Department of Elections. While you may use the absentee ballot application and mail it to the Chesapeake Voter Registrar’s Office (411 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322), you can also apply online for an absentee ballot directly from the Commonwealth.
Bulk Trash Collection: The City has resumed collection of bulk waste of all types (with the exception of construction debris). This will be accomplished by "sweeping" the City in multiple passes until Friday, Aug. 14. Residents may place both storm debris and other bulk items at the curb on their collection day. Items will be collected as quickly as possible, and should be left at the curb until collected.
Residents will NOT be required to submit a bulk trash collection request until after Aug. 14. Bulk collections during this time will not count against the annual 12-collection bulk limits.
Bulk waste is limited to one 4-foot-wide by 4-foot-high by 10-foot-long pile. Tree limbs, branches and sticks must not exceed 6 inches in diameter and 6 feet in length. Residents should place bulk household items and bagged or stacked yard waste/limbs/branches in separate piles.
Online services remain the safest option. If you must do business in person at a City facility, please call ahead to ensure the service is available. Call 757-382-2489 or the specific department.
