Inside the Jump Seat
The "jump seat" is the area behind the officer and driver operator where one to two firefighters sit. Some older fire engines accommodate room for only two firefighters, the newer state of the art apparatus allow for up to four.
Self Contained Breathing Apparatus or SCBA's are mounted into the seats, allowing firefighters to safely don them while responding to a call.
