The Second Precinct is located in South Norfolk and shares a border with the neighboring cities of Virginia Beach and Norfolk. Patrol Officers in the Second Precinct are responsible for 11.8 miles of the City's 353 total square miles (3.34%). This Precinct covers 6 of the City's 24 daytime Patrol Beats. The Second Precinct Commander also maintains command of the Underwater Search and Recovery Team, as well as the Marine Patrol Unit.

The Commanding Officer, Captain Jim Dunlap is a graduate of Old Dominion University where he received a Masters in Public Administration, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy’s 203rd Session. He is assisted by two lieutenants and six sergeants. One lieutenant oversees the administration and special projects at the precinct, and the other lieutenant oversees the operations of the precinct. The Second Precinct is focused on improving the quality of life for our citizens.
