City Park Renovation
The substantially-complete Chesapeake City Park OPENED Fall 2012, We are looking toward spring 2013, when the city will hold a major grand opening of the entire, renovated Chesapeake City Park.
There are several smaller scale projects and punch-list items which will need to be concluded and may require partial closings of sections for a short time; notification will appear in signage at the park, on the City webpages, press releases and social media such as Facebook.
Background: Beginning in spring 2011, City Park is undergoing a 3-phase renovation project funded by the Greenbrier TIF. By the end of the project, the park is scheduled to have an expanded open area, an area dedicated to the farmers market, an improved amphitheater, a new dog park, several paths or walkways, a pond and new shelters.
