City Park Renovation
City Park to close for renovation on December 1, 2011.
Fun Forest and the temporary dog park will remain open during construction.
Background: Beginning in spring 2011, City Park is undergoing a 3-phase renovation project funded by the Greenbrier TIF. By the end of the project, the park is scheduled to have an expanded open area, an area dedicated to the farmers market, an improved amphitheater, a new dog park, several paths or walkways, a pond and new shelters.

About us: Recreation, leisure activities, and green space are some of the aspects vital to a rich quality-of-life.
Chesapeake Parks and Recreation Department meets the diverse needs of a growing population with a variety of recreational, social and cultural activities and is responsible for maintaining city-owned open space.
A City Council-appointed citizen advisory board helps direct the operation of the recreation, parks, athletics, community center, senior, therapeutics and leisure divisions.
Additionally, the grounds maintenance division of Parks and Recreation is responsible for the care, maintenance and beautification of parks, playgrounds, and athletic fields and facilities.
