The City of Chesapeake makes or extends no warranty of any kind, either express or implied, as to the use or appropriateness of the utilization of the GIS data taken delivery of by the recipient The City of Chesapeake does not guarantee or warrant that the GIS data supplied is complete or current because it is subject to constant temporal change. Any use of this GIS data is done at the sole risk and liability of the recipient.

The City of Chesapeake shall not be subject to liabilities or responsibilities for errors, human or mechanical, defects or failures of systems or machines, or any other material used in connection with these systems and/or machines, including but not limited to, computer magnetic and/or optical data storage devices such as tapes, compact discs (CD/CDROM), and/or any disk storage media.

The recipient should be or become familiar with, and understand, the provisions of National Map Accuracy Standards for the use of the supplied GIS data at mapping scales other that that of compilation. Compilation mapping scale refers to the scale of the data as it was collected and intended for cartographic representation in hardcopy form.

The recipient is solely responsible for obtaining updated data, and to do so at her/his own expense. Updates require that a new request be made to the City, and concomitant processing charges will apply.

The only authorized data obtained from the City of Chesapeake, Virginia is that obtained directly from, or through explicit and express written permission, by the City’s Department of Information Technology. Data obtained from any other source will be considered unauthorized.
