Information Technology Department
| Phone: 757-382-6391 | ||
| Address: 300 Shea Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23322 | ||
The Information Technology Department is more than just data and connections. It’s strategy. It's vision. Information Technology helps City Departments and Schools use technology to provide better service more efficiently. Technology has amazing power, and you have to be smart about how you use it.
In this economy, we’re doing more with less. Information Technology took the lead on an asset management system for the City, which is basically a system that keeps track of things: inventory, work orders, etc. Now that each department uses the same system, they can coordinate projects and share resources.
We know you want everything online. Information Technology is working closely with departments to bring the services you want to the internet:

Chesapeake Alert is a free service that allows you to receive information and notifications from the City government in areas that your choose. It is also used to notify citizens via telephone in cases of emergency. |
These are just a few of the online services you’ll find at CityofChesapeake.net, which is also a service of Information Technology.
Information Technology also serves our “internal” customers, or employees. We are responsible for maintaining all the City’s data, which includes everything from tax bills to real estate assessments. We provide internet access, email, telephones, computers, help desk support, network security, project management, and more. City departments depend on Information Technology for the tools they need to better serve you.
Information Technology’s work has been consistently recognized nationwide:
