Workforce Development - Learning and Development
The City of Chesapeake's Human Resources Department has an In-House Training program that offers a wide variety of training courses to City employees. Employees throughout the organization are encouraged to participate in the program. The training is designed to focus on meeting the needs of our City employees, increasing their job skills and preparing them to better compete for career advancement. Relevant training is considered as one of the factors in selecting the most suitable candidate for advancement.
We are pleased to have qualified staff who facilitates world-renowned courses such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®. In addition we are excited to offer other such popular courses as "Who Moved My Cheese?", Road to Abilene, and Recognizing the Need to Recognize Your Employees. Successful completion of the Supervisory Certificate Program is required of all City supervisors.
The Certificate Program consists of six required courses and your choice of 2 electives from Communication & Interpersonal Skills.
