Letter from Mayor
Dear Citizens of Chesapeake,
It is my privilege to introduce the 2010-2011, inaugural class of Mayor’s Ambassadors for the City of Chesapeake. This is a group of youth in grades 6-8 that deserve to be recognized for their accomplishments. As a city we value people, especially our young people, who give back to their community and we understand that their contributions matter to making this city a great place to live.
These middle school students are not necessarily your top athletes or top students, although some of them do excel in these areas. What makes them unique is the way they choose to live their lives every day and dedicate themselves to the world around them. I am inspired by these young people and I hope that you are, too. They make a positive impact on their friends, families and community by being examples of choosing to hear the words “I can” instead of “I can’t”. Some are overcoming challenges, which you and I can only imagine, and continue to excel beyond expectations.
As you read the biographies of these students, you will see how much these remarkable youth have to offer our community and how much we can learn from them. Please join me in congratulating our Mayor’s Ambassadors.
Sincerely,
