Locality License Plate for Beautification and Conservation Committee
A City of Chesapeake Locality License Plate for Beautification and Conservation can be purchased at any Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office or on the DMV website. The plate costs $25 plus the cost of registration. A personalized plate is an additional $10. Of the $25, $15 will be used to fund Chesapeake beautification projects and is tax deductible.
History of the Program
In 1995, City Council Member Alan P. Krasnoff proposed the concept of the City license plates. City Council voted to approve the plates and directed that the funds be used for beautification projects and the plates be promoted and managed by the Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council (CEIC).
Current Project
CEIC plans to utilize funds raised from the sale of City of Chesapeake Locality License Plates for Beautification and Conservation for the design and installation of a low-maintenance, high color entranceway landscape for Battlefield Boulevard (Chesapeake Expressway) at the first signalized intersection when you come into Chesapeake from North Carolina. The center medians on both north and south sides of the intersection will be planted. The shoulders on the north side will also be planted. Planting should occur in fall 2010.
