Anger Management
Anger Management classes help participants identify ways to cope with anger and develop strategies to manage anger in healthy ways. There are separate classes for men, women, and teens ages 13-17. Pre-registration is required. To register, or for more information, call the Mental Health Intake Unit at 757-547-9334 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
All classes cost $10 per session payable at the time of check-in. We accept cash, checks or money orders made payable to the Chesapeake Community Services Board, and credit / debit cards.
Please note: Chesapeake City Treasurer regulations require personal checks to include the telephone number of the account holder. A convenience fee will be added to all credit card transactions.
All classes are held at the Chesapeake Community Services Board at 224 Great Bridge Boulevard, Chesapeake, VA 23320. The Community Services Board is one-half mile east of Oscar Smith High School between Oscar Smith High and Battlefield Boulevard.
Men's Anger Management
Facilitated by David Hawkins, 757-819-6141, this class meets on Mondays from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Women's Anger Management
This female only education group is designed to provide women a safe environment to develop healthy coping strategies to manage anger. Facilitated by Lacey Kallestad, MSW, 757-819-6137, this class meets Mondays from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Adolescent Anger Management
This 8 week class is open to boys and girls ages 13 through 17 and is designed to teach coping skills that can be used to manage intense emotions appropriately. This group meets on Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and are facilicated by Kathy White, LCSW, 757-819-6165.
