The Chesapeake Tourism Advisory Board shall make recommendations to the Chesapeake Conventions and Tourism Department, the City Manager, and City Council concerning the promotion of tourism, conferences, and conventions in the City. The Board shall consult with the Director of the Department on matters pertaining to advertising, target marketing, and long range plans for tourism in Chesapeake, as well as other matters brought before the Board by the Director of the Department for investigation, study, and report as to feasibility of adoption of implementation.
The Board shall consist of the following members: Regular members shall be: Three (3) members from the hotel industry; One (1) member from the retail industry; One (1) member from the restaurant industry; One (1) member who is a resident of Chesapeake; One (1) member from the general business community; and One (1) member from a local tourism/convention/ visitor attraction. Ex-officio members shall be: The bureau manager of the Chesapeake Conventions and Tourism Bureau; One (1) representative from the city's parks and recreation department; and One (1) representative from the Chesapeake Conference Center.
