The Chesapeake Commission for the Prevention of AIDS shall act in an advisory capacity to City Council in considering issues dealing with the prevention of AIDS, make recommendations, and such other duties as may be assigned by City Council.

Mission Statement
The MISSION of the Chesapeake Commission for the Prevention of AIDS is to advise and recommend to the City Council of Chesapeake methods to prevent and reduce the transmission of HIV, delay the development of AIDS, and support the HIV/AIDS population's need for basic services, medical needs, and social support.
