National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Gatherings open to the public include:

South Norfolk Historic District is hosting a gathering from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lakeside Park, 1441 Bainbridge Blvd.

Deep Creek Ruritan Club will host a hot dog cook out with informational tables for the community from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Soccer Fields in the 100 block of North George Washington Hwy. A community awards ceremony will start at 6 p.m.

An additional 20 neighborhoods are participating with private neighborhood events. Contact your local neighborhood leaders for more information.

For more information, contact Officer Gonzales or Officer Everette at and they will arrange for a City representative to stop by the event.
