We're testing a communities section for our website. South Norfolk stands as our prototype website. Depending on its success, we may expand the section with the implementation of more community-specific websites.

|Community Meeting: Indian River Planning Area Study
||May 11, 2020 11:53 AM - May 25, 2020 11:53 AM
The City of Chesapeake invites you to learn about the Indian River Planning Area Study process and share ideas about the area's future. Due to the current stay-at-home mandate, the City is conducting a virtual Community Meeting (in-lieu of an in-person meeting). This meeting will include a brief presentation to provide an overview of the planning process and summarize information gathered. Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Listen to and view an audio-visual presentation
- Review existing conditions findings to date
- Provide input by completing an online survey and an interactive mapping exercise
The meeting will be open May 11 to 25.
Please visit the Indian River/Military Highway Corridor Study web page for access to this meeting and provide your input.
The Indian River Planning Area Study will evaluate current conditions along the Indian River Road and Military Highway corridors, as well as in surrounding areas to create a strategic plan that will embrace the City’s Comprehensive Plan and its three cornerstones: responsible growth, infrastructure, and quality of life. The plan will highlight the significance of both Indian River Road and Military Highway as important gateways that can help the City achieve its vision of being a place known for its well-connected communities and vibrant commercial areas. At the same time, the study will explore ways to enhance overall quality of life in the area and to accommodate a broad range of future mobility options.
